CATT/Trenchless Technology Road Show Continues to Grow

— Aug 20, 2014

2014More than 400 people visited the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls for the 2014 CATT/Trenchless Technology Roadshow.

This was the second time the Centre for Advancement of Trenchless Technologies (CATT) chose the Scotiabank Convention Centre for the biennial event and CATT executive director Dr. Mark Knight was pleased that the event has officially outgrown the Peller Estates Ballroom section of the building and is ready to occupy more space for the next road show.

“I always like when it grows,” Knight says. “There is still a lot of room for growth.”
That growth, he says, is doable. Broken down to simple terms, “If everybody here brings one extra person, then we will double in size,” he says, meaning at least 800 attendees for the 2016 event.
The three-day event, held May 27-29, featured speakers, exhibitors and attendees from across Canada. Lest you think it was solely a Canadian endeavour, there were also those from the United States and abroad, a testament to how the show has grown.

2014“To my knowledge, this is the largest North American trenchless show outside of No-Dig,” says CATT chairman Jonathan Pearce. “Because of the quality of the presentations, the excellent speakers and exhibitors, people are going away from here with ideas about what they can do.”

Asset management pioneer Penny Burns was the Keynote Speaker at the conference. She is now writing the Story of Asset Management — how has developed over the last 30 years. Inserta Tee Fittings conducted a live demo, as well.

2014Looking to the future, both Knight and Pearce agree that by creating a networking environment that features the newest in technologies and studies, the show will draw more attendees and in turn raise awareness and education about the benefits that the trenchless industry has to offer.
