Xylem Inc. (XYL), a leading global water technology company focused on addressing the world’s most challenging water issues, has been recognized with the Gold Standard Award for Corporate Citizenship by PublicAffairsAsia for Xylem Watermark, the company’s global corporate citizenship and social investment program.

The Gold Standard Award for Corporate Citizenship identifies excellence for the development of a corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability or good governance project that enhances corporate reputation. Xylem Watermark, whose mission is to provide and protect clean water resources around the world, was selected for its strong nonprofit partnerships, record of impactful emergency response and capacity building, employee engagement in the field, and dedication to providing sustainable solutions to communities in need.

“Xylem recognizes the importance and the power of corporate citizenship,” said Xylem CEO and president Steve Loranger. “It is our responsibility as a global water company to be proactive in finding solutions for water crises around the world, and we are pleased to be recognized for that effort.”

In Asia alone, Xylem Watermark has reached more than 1.7 million people in 300 communities with its nonprofit partners – Water For People, Mercy Corps, China Women’s Development Foundation and Planet Water Foundation. Since launching in 2008, the program has reached a total of more than 2.1 million people in more than 20 countries around the world. In addition, the program has helped raise more than $2 million dollars to support Xylem Watermark’s nonprofit partners.

“Our employees expect us to be committed to the communities where we operate,” said Xylem China president Shuping Lu. “We have worked hard to make a difference for many people through Xylem Watermark year over year in Asia and beyond.”

Since 2009, The Gold Standard Awards have recognized excellence by corporations, governments and NGOs in the fields of public affairs, government relations, communications, public relations, CSR and governance.
